Tired of convincing restaurant owners that they need a website?”


In my opinion, there is no bigger waste of time than trying to “convince” a restaurant owner that they need a website.

As a general rule of life, I don’t spend one minute trying to sell anybody something they don’t want unless it’s literally life or death.

Of course, I spend the time to learn about them and their business, but if after all of that digging, I discover that they truly don’t want a website, I promptly move on.

No bickering. No arguing. No slick objection rebuttals.

I simply move on to what’s important to him.

Here’s why I handle it that way:

First of all, it may come as a shock to some consultants to learn that a restaurant doesn’t necessarily need a website to be successful.

It will definitely help if done and marketed correctly, but by no stretch of any consultant’s imagination is it necessary.

All that’s really needed for success is for the restaurant to consistently get customers and that’s only if they are in the business of maximizing profit.

By the way, some are not.

Secondly, if they don’t have a website by now, there could be any number of reasons for that, but ultimately they don’t have one because they haven’t made getting one a priority.

There are literally thousands of options for website designers, so the only person who doesn’t have one, is the person who hasn’t prioritized getting one.

Lastly, it’s always easier and more profitable to go with the flow when it comes to selling anything.

Especially if I’ve discovered the reason for not having a website is that they don’t really want one.

After all, we’re all adults here.

You make your choices and I make mine. No harm. No foul.

But, it’s important to mention that at that point, I’m doubling down on my initial goal of finding out what their needs, goals and aspirations are for their restaurant and how can I help them achieve those.

With or without the website doesn’t really matter to me.

My bank account isn’t picky.

Just food for thought.
